Manual Handling
Sprains and strains from lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling are among the most common injuries on site. Most build up slowly over time, so the damage is often done before anyone feels it.
Working in the Heat
Heat illness can come on quickly and can kill. Hot, humid days, heavy work and PPE all add to the load on the body. Heat stroke is a medical emergency. Everyone needs to know the signs in themselves and their mates.
Sun Safety
Australia has one of the highest skin cancer rates in the world, and outdoor workers get far more UV than most. Sun damage adds up over years. Most of it happens on ordinary days, not just the scorchers.
Fatigue
Being awake for a long time affects your reactions and judgement much like alcohol does. Long shifts, early starts and long drives home are a deadly mix, and fatigued driving kills tradies every year.
